The Salkantay Hike to Machu Picchu 5 days and 4 nights

Usually the hike around the Salkantay trek involve crossing valleys and mountains before arriving to the “Lost City of the Incas” = Machupicchu. The famous Mollepata Salkantay (or Salcantay Trek).offers the solitude and quiet contemplation such a sacred path deserves.

Day 1:Cusco–Mollepata-SaSoraypampa Max Alt. 3,750m/12,303ft

In the morning at 5:00a.m. A bus will take us to the town of Mollepata (2900 meters above sea level) where we will arrive approximately at 7:30 in the morning, we will stop for last minute supplies, leg-stretching or to use the restrooms at a local restaurant. We will continue our journey to Crus Pata, our trek starting point. We will meet with our support staff, who will load the equipment on horses and mules. Around 9:00 a.m., we will begin our hike toward Soraypampa (3850 meters above sea level). During the hike we will have panoramic views of the majestic Salkantay, other mountains covered with snow, and the Valley of Apurimac River. We will have a our lunch. After lunch, continue walking and our campsite where the tents will be ready for you as well as your dinner.


Day 2:Soraypampa-Abra Salkantay-Chaullay (18km Walking): Max Alt. 4,600m/15,091ft

Today, nature will change drastically from dry sceneries to snowy peaks and tropical areas. After a delicious breakfast, we will start the most difficult part of the trek. We will start the hike around 7:00 in the morning. we will go toward the left side of the snowy ,then we will be on the highest point (4600 m.a.s.l).  We will see spectacular views of the mountains and the imposing snowy peaks of the Salkantay (6264 meters above sea level) which is known as the second highest point of the Cusco region. then, down to have our lunch . After a trek  we will arrive to our camp , we will enjoy our dinner.

Day 3:Chaullay– La Playa - Sawayaco-Santa Teresa (10km walking) : Max Alt. 1,600m/5,249ft

In the morning early we will start our trek. We will walk for about 6 hours toward Playa Sahuayaco and during this period; we will observe an amazing town called Collpabamba, where there are waterfalls, fruit-bearing trees, varied flora, and birds can be observed. If we are lucky, we will be able to observe the famous bird called the “Cock of the Rocks”. then we will have our lunch. and take a local bus will take us to Santa Teresa Hot Springs, where you will enjoy and relax at the hot pools. You will have dinner and camping there.

Day 4:Santa Teresa-Hydroelectric-Machu Picchu Town (6km Walking): Max Alt. 2,100m/6,890ft

After breakfast, we will take a bus to hydroelectric, where we will have our lunch.then, we will continue walking for three hours, where we will have panoramic views of Machu Picchu Mountain, an Inca bridge, We will stay in a hotel, and we will enjoy dinner at a local restaurant at about 7:00p.m.

Day 5:Machu Picchu Town - Lost City Of Machu Picchu -Huayna Picchu Optional and Cusco: Max Alt. 2,750m/9,022ft

 have to get up very early in the morning at 5:30 am to have breakfast after that go to the Archeological Site of Machu picchu,we walk around the city and visit the most important places of Machu Picchu for around 2 hours. After the explanation you the option for climbing up to the Huayna Picchu Mountain, enjoying all of Machu Picchu. After you can take a bus to Aguas Calientes(Machu picchu town) and then we coach the train back to Cusco during 4 hours getting to Cusco 8:20 pm. approximately.End of ours services.
